After spending over 30 years as co-founder, co-songwriter and drummer in the band Elbow, I left to explore my passion for teaching and mentoring musicians of all abilities, researching the physical and mental benefits of drumming for both neuro-diverse and neuro-typical people of all ages, take a break from touring, spend time with my family and re-connect with the drums.
This journey is taking me from being in one of the UK's biggest and critically acclaimed bands, touring the world, winning BRIT's, Ivor Novello's and a Mercury Prize to running Masterclasses at Universities, Colleges and schools nationwide with the support from Roland to 1-2-1 teaching and mentoring Sessions at my home Drum Studio, to continually expanding my formal teaching at Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) and BIMM Manchester.
This year I will be studying for my Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education: Theatre and Performing Arts with LIPA.
I am continually working on creative side projects, contributing to live, remote and studio session work, writing, recording and just enjoying playing.
